Blog exercise for 101

Where to start?
I will let my mind and fingers wander aimlessly.
Why do I want to express myself with the printed word.
To entertain I think.
Having a jolly mind making people laugh make me feel good.
Having a large group of people in a Caravan Club that are interested in my scripts I have previously written, I decided to use WordPress as my medium for communication.
Shortly I will be embarking on a Cruise and my experiences will be expressed for the enjoyment or otherwise of my followers.

Spelling and grammar may be an issue, but what the hell, used for communication and providing the messages are understood, problem solved.
At 76 years and being a great grandad WordPress and all it’s variables are somewhat complicated, but like life, practise makes perfect.

So to continue the introduction.
I retired at 70 years of age, it was a long bad winter, with little to do outdoors it drove me mad.
I said to my wife that I was to find work again.
She thought I was mad.
At your age you will never find an employer.
I did not want an employer who would tell me what hours I would have to work, I wanted to please myself.
Wondering and searching making enquiries I decided on becoming a Knife Sharpener.
Investing in an industrial/ professional Knife Sharpening machine, one that I could use as a mobile knife sharpener I set off.
Wow, I can go on for a long time with my experiences over the last few years .
That will have to wait for another time as my time is running short now.

All in a day’s Work

One of the reasons for my knife sharpen activities is to still take part in life’s activities now that I am retired.
Today was a typical reason why.
Visiting one of my customers that I had not seen for a while he was limping and had a cage structure around his right lower leg, the type used when the bone is damaged and needs to be kept in alignment.
Enquiring on what happened, some basic details were revealed, he was touring in Spain on his Kawasaki motor bike.
At the time he was on a mountain road the type that was not made up of Tarmac but a rough surface.
Riding steadily the road surface gave way, he was near the edge of a cliffs, yes he lost control and went down the mountain.
Details were a bit vague, but he thanked adrenaline, if it was not for that he would not have got back up onto the road level.
Somehow he got to a Spanish hospital, they mentioned amputating his leg.
He was not having any of this.
They made his leg safe for the journey back home via a special flight to Cardiff and on to Bristol where he arrived at A&E.
Rather surprised they performed an operation to repair this serious injury to his lower leg.
He now has a large part of his right shoulder on his right shin area.
Rather a grotesque lump and swelling..
The shoulder revealed a large indentation and a scar
that was remarkably clean and had healed well.
The operation showed what remarkable skills were performed to get this man, he did not reveal the bone injuries to his leg, but I wish him well.

Continuing my day I called upon a large private school in Bristol.
Proceeded to sharpen their kitchen knives by previous appointment.
I was left in the kitchen on my own.

A kitchen porter appeared, and we engaged a  chit chat about nothing of importance.
He moaned about the recent “Tour of Britain” cycle race, how it had delayed his journey home by sheer numbers blocking the roads in and around Cumberland Basin.
He lives in Hartcliffe part of Bristol and cycles to work each day.
His journey is entirely via the cycle track except for a short stint on the main road where there is provision for cycles.
One day returning home on his bike he was confronted by a mugger.
The mugger was surprised when the situation was reversed.
He (the mugger) did not realise his victim was a Kick Boxer.
The assailant was quickly now the victim and was robbed of £50.00 despite saying he was ill and needed the money to pay for his drugs.
The kitchen porter continued his journey a satisfied man.

It also made my day more interesting than sat in front of the telly watching “Loose Women”
